Cannonsburgh Village is located is one of the top attractions in Murfreesboro, TN. It’s a visual representation of rural life in Tennessee from the 1830’s to the 1930’s. It’s a complete village that has everything from a schoolhouse, a University House, a gristmill, a museum, a caboose, a working blacksmith’s shop, a doctor’s office, a general store, a wedding chapel, and even more. It also has the World’s largest cedar bucket. You can visit the village between May 1st and Dec 1st. Guided tours are available and while there you have to check out the Visitor Center which has an array of fun items and souvenirs to choose from.

Murfreesboro is home to the first natural history museum in Middle Tennessee. This museum is home to displays and pieces of art from all over the World but has a large variety of interesting items that are from Tennessee. There’s everything here from archeological relics and rocks to fossils and dinosaurs. There are live activities inside the museum that guests have an opportunity to participate in. Oaklands Mansion is a very popular attraction to visit in Murfreesboro. It’s a representation of what wealth and prosperity looked like in Middle Tennessee prior to the Civil War. The mansion was sold at auction after the war to cover debts. Multiple families made use of this mansion over a long period of time. It was restored and then transformed into the museum it is today and is a cultural tourism destination. You can take a self-guided tour through the mansion and bask in it’s artwork and furnishings from such an interesting era of time.
